Hello from the Smithsonian Latino Center
Hi Young Ambassadors,
We hope your internship is going superbly. Here from Smithsonian Land, we are busy planning Hispanic Heritage Month and our 20th anniversary activities and of course, Ashley is working away at coordinating all of our wonderful community outreach events at our YAP cities.
We are so excited that everyone has started their internships and are learning about everything from virtual reality to planning summer programs. We know this is hard work and appreciate the difference you are making in your communities.
Your blogs are a great window into your day to day and allow us to be with you virtually. Always know we are here to answer any questions or be a resource for you.
We (Ranald, Ashley, Adrian, and myself) just came back from at the new National Museum of African American History and Culture. We are hoping to to an Afro-Latino program during Hispanic Heritage Month and guess what! We are going to bring back Circa 95...Ashley wishes Kofi were part of the deal :) Can everyone say Ago Ame!!
We miss having y'all here and now we are the ones eating all the snacks (this is dangerous).
Anyway, I just thought I would drop a blog post and let you all know how things are here in the SLC.
I went and visited the Harriet Tubman Visitors Center and learned once again how powerful storytelling and first person voice can be in sharing the impact of one individual and the power that each one of us has with our voice. Another great Washington Week lesson reinforced. Check out the pictures below!
Talk soon!
